Let's Talk Styles
When I think of fishing styles, I’m referring to fly fishing,
lure fishing and bait fishing. These methods are generally the
way most people fish for trout. Which style that you chooses is
completely up to you for there isn’t any right or wrong method,
per say, just the way a person wishes to go about it. As kids,
we were introduced to fishing by baiting a hook. Worms seemed to
generally be the bait of choice at the time, but today there are
many artificial types of bait available.
As
we grew older a spinning rod rigged with a spinner drew our
interest and opened a new world of fishing. Spin fishing
requires covering a lot of water and walking, but is a very
effective method. The addition of small lures widened the
repertoire of “baits” to throw and increased our options as
well.
The
third method, and classic method, so to speak, “pure” way to
fish for trout is the fly rod and fly. Fly-fishing is deep in
tradition and holds a bit of mystery and long considered by many
the only real way to trout fish. Trout eat insects, therefore
the attraction for anglers, should he choose to learn fly tying
is, he can tie many insect representations himself. In the
western part of the United States fly-fishing dominates the
trout fishing world.
Fishing for trout, like any thing else in the world can be as
complicated or simple as someone cares to make it. How a person
chooses to go about it makes no real difference in the long run.
Enjoying the day outdoors, whether on your own or with
friends, is what it’s all about. Taking your mind off the
everyday and focusing on your fishing is healthy and good for
the soul. Being in nature, the outdoors, well what can I say??
